The Latest in Celebrity Real Estate Ventures

Jessica Chastain, star of Zero Dark Thirty and countless other feature films, recently invested in a $5.1 million, 3,200 square foot co-op in New York City’s historic Osborne building. With 4 bedrooms and 3.5 baths, the home was previously owned by the renowned composer of West Side Story, Leonard Bernstein.

Previously residing in a Greenwich Village townhouse, Chastain’s new slice of NYC celebrity real estate features 5 fireplaces, 14-foot ceilings, hand-carved mahogany doors and other impressive architectural accents.

With an expansive dining room, 50-bottle wine refrigerator and a fabulous kitchen recently featured in New York Magazine, there is plenty of room to entertain celebrity A-listers. The master suite boasts a wall of floor-to-ceiling closets, a marble bathroom with double sinks, a soaking tub and glass-walled rain shower.

Meanwhile, on the left coast, another Hollywood heavy hitter is unloading some quality Los Angeles celebrity real estate. For a cool $13 million ($12.995 million to be exact) you can be the new owner of Tom Cruise‘s compound.

Offering over 2.5 acres of land, the Hollywood Hills, celebrity real estate property is described as “a European-style villa perched high on its own knoll, tucked behind tall gates and sited down a long private driveway…walls of glass that command breathtaking city views,” according to Redfin.

Impressive features include an Italian farmhouse-style kitchen with high-end appliances, vaulted ceilings, wide plank oak floors and touches of wrought iron, stone and wood elements throughout. With a detached guest house including a kitchen, four bedrooms and four baths, there is plenty of space for visitors.

The outdoor living space includes a lagoon-esque heated pool, spa and waterfall and a stone building with room for a tasting room and/or wine cellar. All structures on the property are intertwined by stone paths and driveways while high-tech Lutron and Crestron systems power and control the estate.

Cruise’s main residence is a luxurious Beverly Hills mansion purchased for over $30 million back in 2007, reports Variety, also reporting that Cruise has been listing other celebrity real estate properties he owns, including his East Village NYC apartment and his nearly 300-acre ranch in Colorado.
